You will help manage teams that will play a significant role in the design and development of micro-services, components, and tools for Guidewire’s next generation, cloud-native platform. Guidewire’s cloud platform is targeted to be best-in-class in enabling our customers with mission services in the property and casualty insurance domain. You will work in a highly collaborative environment in agile, cross-functional teams.

Your responsibility will include, but aren’t limited to:
• Help multiple teams hit their goal in the cloud transformation
• Work with teams and responsible for day to day operations
• Follow agile best practices and improve knowledge density of the team
• Interact with leadership to help maintain business focus and consistent practices
• Support other teams using the tools and cloud infrastructure and maintain operability
• Implement new automation to improve speed and quality of environment procurement, deployment and management
• Drive effective resolution to escalations including post mortem, root cause analysis and implementa-tion s to ensure long term remediation of issues
• Design, develop and implement micro-services, components & tools
• Encourage and help teams do test driven unit and end to end testing of any code
• Design, develop and implement micro-services, components & tools
• Own scalability, availability and data security for your services
• Deploy containerized applications to the preferred cloud provider
• Drive Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD)
• Mentor other developers in best practices

What you would need to succeed
• Strong conceptual thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in the Insurtech industry will be a plus.
• Have successfully led multiple teams
• Strong leadership skills and representation for teams
• Experience working with senior leadership team to design technology and process landscape and develop overall cloud solution strategy
• Ability to work effectively in cross functional global organization
• Strong technical communication skills
• Excellent software development skills in one or more of the following languages: Java/Golang/NodeJs
• Have developed in more than one language and ready to pivot to any language/framework
• Understand SOLID/Hexagonal Architecture and other design principles
• Understand REST API/gRPC for data interchange
• Understand micro services architecture patterns pattern like Service Discovery/API Gateway/Domain Driven Design etc.
• Have implemented distributed tracing and monitoring of apps
• Understand IaaS abstractions like Kubernetes/Cloud foundry/OpenShift
• Understand Serverless function and their relevant use
• Ability to work in an agile fast paced environment
• BS/MS degree (Computer Science or Math)
• 10+ years relevant work experience
• This role will be based in the Birmingham, Alabama

Bonus
• Working knowledge of Kafka, Elasticsearch, Spring Boot
• Advanced debugging skills in Linux
• Startup experience
